Botanical name Stanleya pinnata

Common name Prince's plume

Prince's plume is a showy perennial subshrub that occurs in a variety of habitats and soils including deserts, foothills, sagebrush, dunes, and rocky cliffs. Prince's plume has erect stems that can reach 5 feet tall in bloom. It has basal leaves that are blue-green, waxy, and smooth. At the top of the stem is a spike of many bright yellow flowers. This native member of the mustard family is a larval host plant for the Becker's white and checkered white butterflies.
