Botanical name: Asclepias erosa
Common name: Desert milkweed

Host plant for Monarch and Striated Queen butterflies. It grows 2-4′ high and spreads by rhizomes. The large, yellow-white flowerheads attract numerous pollinators. Dormant in fall/winter. Prefers full sun and deep, sandy, well-draining soils.

Family: Apocynaceae
Plant Type: Perennial herb
Mature Size: 2-4’H x 1-2’W
Flower Color: Cream
Flowering Season: Summer
Cold Tolerance: Hardy to 15F
Wildlife Benefitted: Butterflies/Moths, bees
Warnings: Toxic
Sowing Time: Spring. Daytime temps must be in the mid-70s for germination to occur.
Pre-Treatment: None
