Sandpaper plant’s name suggests the leaves feel sandpapery, but it’s really more like Velcro, best described as catching your fingers when you rub the leaves. The small white flowers have long anthers that are clustered at the end of the stem. The vibrant green of the stem and clasping leaves are a wonderful pop of color in the summer months.
The overall form of the plant is round and spreads. It primarily exists in Creosote bush scrub, washes or sandy dunes.
