Wildlife research study planned for Mojave Desert highway
State Route 62 will be the focus of the study ahead of two planned wildlife crossings over the highway located east of the Victor Valley.
The partnership will include the Wildlands Network, Rogue Detection Teams, and the Mojave Desert Land Trust.
The non-invasive wildlife surveys, some using trained rescue dogs, will collect data on mountain lion, bighorn sheep and bobcats as part of a larger effort to assess the crossings' benefits and improve conditions for wildlife, the organization stated.
