Annual report: Mojave Desert Land Trust reaches new conservation milestones

The report release coincides with several conservation milestones: the Land Trust is on track to reach the 80,000 acre mark of acquired and preserved land across the Mojave Desert in the coming months; MDLT’s seed bank, created in 2016, has just logged its 500th collection of seeds; and MDLT has now donated more tracts of land to the National Park Service than any other nonprofit in the country since 2006.

Land purchases help piece together Death Valley National Park

The National Park Service has purchased 680.8 acres of private land within Death Valley National Park’s borders. An AmeriCorps NCCC team is concluding a three-month service project with the Mojave Desert Land Trust, having helped restore 3,465 acres of wildlife habitat.Gold 2, an 11-member NCCC Pacific Region team, worked across the Mojave and Sonoran deserts performing restoration activities, monitoring MDLT land, and removing over 9.5 tons of solid waste. Signed bill paves way for land transfers to Joshua Tree and Death Valley national parks

MDLT is a new fundraising partner for Joshua Tree National Park

The Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) has become an official fundraising friends’ group for Joshua Tree National Park. A Philanthropic Partnership Agreement was signed that enables MDLT to raise funds and/or in-kind goods and services to support greater public understanding, conservation, and enjoyment of the Park's resources and values. MDLT and the Park already have a Memorandum of Understanding focused on collaborative efforts to acquire private land within and adjacent to the Park.
