Victorville Daily Press: San Bernardino County passes ordinance aimed at preserving the night sky

Business and home owners in the deserts and mountains of San Bernardino County will have to turn off their outside lights an hour before midnight starting in 2022 after an ordinance intended to minimize light pollution was adopted earlier this week.

The San Bernardino Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the measure Tuesday which also requires all outside lighting in rural areas be fully shielded to avoid light spilling onto adjacent properties.
