Hi-Desert Star: Locals work to save wildlife in Morongo Valley

MORONGO VALLEY — With wildfires raging throughout California, wildlife is coming down from the mountains and flocking to the Morongo Basin. In Morongo Valley, locals say they are seeing unprecedented numbers of deer, sheep, bears and other animals and they are urging visitors to the valley to keep an eye out for the wildlife.

“Morongo Valley is a wildlife corridor,” said Morongo Valley resident Nicole Holland, the owner of Cactus Mart.

“We’re trying to raise awareness to get people to understand where they are living and to acknowledge that the wildlife is abundant in the area and needs to be protected.”
