Bee Kind – Donate Today!

Join us again this year on October 30 for Give Big San Bernardino, a regional day of giving!

In 2017, MDLT was able to acquire Juniper Canyon, a critical wildlife corridor, because of your generosity during Give Big. This year we are focusing Give Big proceeds on our native plant nursery and seed bank. It’s a chance to “Bee Kind to the Mojave”. The Mojave is home to over 200 fascinating native bee species that pollinate our desert flora. Beetles, flies, hummingbirds, moths, and butterflies all play a critical role in the health of our ecosystems.

Native plants are vital to supporting pollinator diversity in the Mojave Desert and around the world. Did you know that the monarch butterfly caterpillar can only eat milkweed? There is a critical need to replenish the milkweed population, an essential plant for a variety of pollinators. The future of North American monarch butterfly migration is now at risk due to the loss of milkweed habitat. We can help at this pivotal point in the pollinator life cycle.

Donate via the link above between September 30th, 2018 and October 30th, 2018 to help us reach our goal and be entered into our prize raffle! See raffle details here.

Onsite at our HQ on October 30th, we will have a full day of activities for you to bee a part of. Plus, for those who missed our plant sale on Saturday or want more, we will have a limited amount of plants available for sale. First come, first serve!  See the limited list here.

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Join us for a special screening of the award-winning documentary “SEED” in our Pavilion. To quote the filmmakers, “As many irreplaceable seeds near extinction, SEED reveals the harrowing and heartening story of passionate seed keepers as they wage a David and Goliath battle against chemical seed companies, defending a 12,000-year food legacy.”  Sign up here.

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM Attend a desert bee pollinator presentation brought to you by Dr. Hollis Woodard in our Hanna Room. Dr. Woodard is the Assistant Professor of Entomology at the University of California, Riverside. She is a leading expert on bumblebees with a focus on bees in dynamic and extreme environments. This talk should certainly be buzz-worthy! Sign up here.

7:30 PM – 8:30 PM Claire Wadsworth, co-owner of local gem La Copine, singing in her signature indie style on our Pavilion Stage. A little bit of folk, a little bit of rock, and a whole lot of awesome. We look forward to seeing you all! The more, the merrier.
