Society for the Conservation of Bighorn Sheep Volunteer Event – Fargo Canyon Guzzler Water Haul – Saturday

May 22 @ 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Calling all bighorn sheep guardians!

MDLT staff is partnering with The Society for Conservation of Bighorn Sheep (SCBS) on a mission to bring water to a guzzler in Fargo Canyon on Friday May 21 and Saturday, May 22.

Help us protect and provide for a herd of sheep along with the hundreds of other birds and wildlife relying on this water source!

Following are details for each of the work calls:

Friday – We need (1) volunteer driver to drive an MDLT vehicle for hauling water from point A (Dillion and Fargo Canyon Rd) to Point B (an undisclosed location in Fargo Canyon – 8 miles along Fargo Canyon Rd).

10:30am – Two MDLT vehicles depart from MDLT

11:30am – Arrive Point A, Intersection of Dillon and Fargo Canyon Rd.

12 noon – Begin hauling water

5:30pm – Return to MDLT

Saturday – We need (8) strong-of-back hiker individuals who are fully vaccinated to lay a half mile of firehose over changing terrain at Point B in Fargo Canyon. We can transport two volunteers, but others will need to caravan along with us early in the morning. We need fully vaccinated individuals to meet current CDC guidelines.

6:00am – Depart in two MDLT vehicles, staff and volunteers from MDLT

7:00am – Arrive at Point A2, Coachella Valley Aggregates (where the paved road ends and becomes a dirt road)

2:30pm – Return to MDLT

Please RSVP below for Saturday’s event, or click here to volunteer on Friday.
