Panel Discussion: Women In Science Discovering Our Mojave

Celebrating National Public Lands Day, the Mojave Desert Land Trust will host a presentation and panel discussion with young women students who are participating in MDLT’s WISDOM internship program (Women In Science Discovering Our Mojave) in Afton Canyon.

The WISDOM program engages women from underrepresented communities in scientific field studies andenvironmental conservation research projects in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management. Mary Cook-Rhyne, MDLT Education Coordinator, will moderate the discussion as WISDOM program interns share their experience in fieldwork and data collection mirroring Hope Jahren’s own experiences in Lab Girl.

MDLT welcomes responsible, non-motorized use of our lands, such as hiking. If you have an interest in holding an organized event on MDLT land which charges participants a fee, which would have a large number of participants, or which requires special accommodations, equipment or supplies, a Special Use Permit may be required. The permit allows us to ensure that our lands are treated respectfully and that we are able to keep them in good condition for the future enjoyment of all.
