Old Woman Mountains Preserve Cleanup
June 15, 2019 @ 6:00 am - 5:00 pm
We’re excited to support the Native American Land Conservancy in a special cleanup in the Old Woman Mountains Preserve. This 2,560-acre preserve contains biological, cultural, and historic Native American resources, and is used as a sacred and healing landscape. The cleanup will include doing vertical mulching to repair areas damaged by illegal Off-Highway Vehicle use.
Lunch will be provided by the Native American Land Conservancy.
Volunteers are required to RSVP. The cleanup is located in a remote spot which requires 4X4 vehicles. There is limited space in an MDLT vehicle. Participants can also car pool. This volunteer opportunity requires an approximately 4 hour round trip journey. We will depart from a meeting point in 29 Palms at 6am and expect to return around 5pm. Stewardship activities will take place between 8am and 2pm.
Most of the work will take place in a wash and is a 5 minute walk from vehicles.

MDLT welcomes responsible, non-motorized use of our lands, such as hiking. If you have an interest in holding an organized event on MDLT land which charges participants a fee, which would have a large number of participants, or which requires special accommodations, equipment or supplies, a Special Use Permit may be required. The permit allows us to ensure that our lands are treated respectfully and that we are able to keep them in good condition for the future enjoyment of all.
