Local Lands Monthly Monitoring Days Training
October 1 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Are you interested in assisting our Natural Resources Technicians in monitoring our local lands? Our Community Lands Ranger program has evolved into Monthly Monitoring Days. This is a new program designed to monitor MDLT’s Morongo Basin Preserves for any changes to the land. On every second Wednesday of the month, we will be recruiting volunteers from this specific corps of volunteers to hike long distances cross-country with dramatic elevation change and uneven terrain. Some properties will also require volunteers to scramble over rocks. This volunteer opportunity is highly strenuous and requires a high level of fitness and comfortability in remote areas. These volunteers will be accompanied by MDLT’s Natural Resources staff. RSVP for this training by emailing Mackenzie at [email protected].
MDLT welcomes responsible, non-motorized use of our lands, such as hiking. If you have an interest in holding an organized event on MDLT land which charges participants a fee, which would have a large number of participants, or which requires special accommodations, equipment or supplies, a Special Use Permit may be required. The permit allows us to ensure that our lands are treated respectfully and that we are able to keep them in good condition for the future enjoyment of all.
