Campfire Talk: Do you know your public lands?

September 27 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Do you know the difference between a National Park and a National Monument? How does BLM manage its Wilderness Areas compared to its National Conservation Lands and what distinguishes both? What does an Area of Critical Environmental Concern mean? Join MDLT’s Director of Land Management Peter Satin for a multimedia Campfire Talk where he will share the variety of public lands in the California Desert and the agencies that oversee them, while making a few detours for some of his favorite locales in each. Campfire Talks is a series of presentations about the desert we love. S’mores fixings and warm beverages will be offered for your enjoyment. We will move the presentation indoors if the weather is uncooperative.

MDLT welcomes responsible, non-motorized use of our lands, such as hiking. If you have an interest in holding an organized event on MDLT land which charges participants a fee, which would have a large number of participants, or which requires special accommodations, equipment or supplies, a Special Use Permit may be required. The permit allows us to ensure that our lands are treated respectfully and that we are able to keep them in good condition for the future enjoyment of all.
